Plans, Plans, Plans

Well, I am starting to see a trend... I just don't get a lot of sewing done on weekdays.  I guess that is what happens when you do A LOT of stuff.  However, even though I am not sewing I am working on plans for future projects.

Winter Wall Hangings - I am excited about this project.  I have been searching around the internet and haven't found anything like it yet.  Maybe I can make something that is a one of a kind.  I have been looking at fabric samples and graphing it out.  That is one of my favorite parts of quilting, graphing it out.  I think it appeals to the Engineer in me.  I love the effect that changing colors can make with a quilt pattern too.  This is going to be a hexagonal quilt so any tips would be greatly appricated.

Halloween Costume - Continuing my tradition I am sewing my daughter, MiniMoo's, Halloween costume.  My husband, continuing  his tradition, thinks it best to BUY a costume becuase it is cheaper...  apparently I have a tendency to go crazy with sequins fabrics and Halloween is the best excuse.
So, the plans have started.  She is going to be a "Pirate Kitty"!  I told her I was not making two so she combined the two things she wanted to be.  I am so excited about this costume.  I can't wait to show you the progress.  As of now I have planned a a pink satin with silver glitter dots short skirt with 5 layers of tulle as a petticote, a white peasant shirt, a sparkle vest that laces up the front, a bandana in her hair, and pirate boots.  I haven't figured out if striped or fishnets tights would be best and what to do to make the tail and ears for the cat look natural.  At this point it is looking like Puss in Boots joined the crew of the Black Pearl.

Well, no photos tonight but I will try to get some sketches up in the next couple of days.

Weekend Review

As usual it was a crazy weekend.  Not enough time and too much to do.  I did get a little bit bit of creating done.  I worked on BabyBull's quilting this weekend.  I can see how they say that you need 200 hours of free motion quilting to even get used to it.  I am on the 6th block and it is just now starting to remoting look like quilting.  It doesn't even look like the quilts you normally see.  I figured I had to start somewher though.  Here is a progress photo!  Looks like I just piled it up on the table and called it a day.

In addition I also went to a Groovy Girls meeting at the quilt shop I go to in Marietta, Tiny Stitches.  Needless to say we made these fabric fortune cookies.  MiniMoo, daughter, just thought they were the neatest things. I might make a few for her to take to school with her and pass out.  They are super easy and who couldn't use a fortune!

In addition to all that I have been planning out Christmas presents.  I have some of the best ideas this year.  I starting the purchasing for that this weekend too.

I am still planning out the Halloween costumes for the kids too.  I always make MiniMoo's and this is not exception this year.  She is going to be a Pirate Kitty so I will let you know how that is progressing.  I know it will be a tutu type skirt with pink satin over it, high black boots, a kitten mask and tail. We are still working on the shirt and if she will need a glove, eyepatch, hook or parrot.  I think the parrot is a must but I can do without the rest of that stuff.  She is so excited and got a little upset that I hadn't started sewing it yet.  I have 1 month you know.

So that is:
1 week to finish BabyBull's quilt
1 months for MiniMe's Halloween costume
2 months for Christmas presents
This sounds like it is all going to get done right!

LittleMoo's (son's) Quilt Back DONE!

Well, I am making slow but sure progress on LittleMoo's quilt.  It has turned out a little bigger then I first thought but that is fine.  I think it turned out really cute.  I finished the back and have layered.  All that is left to do is the binding and the quilting!!!!  I can't believe it.  I am going to do a cloud pattern for the quilting.  Let me know what you think.

So Little Time

Haven't gotten anything done in about a week.  I think I might get some stuff done tonight and tomorrow though.  I am ready to finish the backing on LittleMoo's quilt and put the borders on my Fall Celebration quilt.

Although I haven't gotten a lot of production done I HAVE gotten some really fabulous ideas for Christmas presents.  I have something special that I want to make for my family members.  I can't believe how neat it would be if I actually got it designed and made.  I have a busy 3 months ahead me without the presents to be made.  I am working on 2 quilts, 2 BOMs, MiniMoo's Halloween costume and a couple of handbags.  Hmmmm, I wonder what will end up not getting done?!

So, lets see what I can get done between now and New Year's.

Fall Celebration Quilt - disappearing nine patch

I am working on a new quilt top called Fall Celebration.  It is a disappering nine patch that started with 10" blocks.  I think it turned out nicely.  The colors look better in person then in these photos.  I might be able to get a better photo in the sunlight.  I just need to add the borders and the top will be done.  Right now the quilt is 5.5' x 4.5 foot (i think).

Let me know what you think!

LittleMoo's (son's) Quilt Top DONE!

I am finally done with the quilt top for my son, LittleMoo.  I thnk it turned out great.  I just have to figure out if I want a pieced back or not.  I am leaning towards pieced back but at this rate I will NEVER be done with it.

I think he is going to love it.  Let me know what you think.

Herman Blu (Mr. Blu)

Here is Mr. Herman Blu for all to enjoy.  I also made the memory boards under him. They are soon to be replaced though.

This is a small tote that MiniMoo, my daughter, gave to a friend of hers for her birthday.  Both the little girls loved the size and colors of this bag.  I used a batik jelly roll so this was simple and fast to put together.  I know MiniMoo has already asked me to make some more for all her friends.

To give you an idea of the size here is another.

Here is the photo of the large patchwork tote I made my friend.

Brainstorming

Bad headache tonight so no sewing; that SUCKS!

I did get one bag done for a friend though yesterday though.  We are still working on perfecting the design but it isn't bad for a practice run; I even made her a matching coupon pouch.  It is a little too big and I have to figure out how to get it to hold its shape better.  Other then that it looked great.  A few more of these and I should have this pattern perfected!

Also, I have a neat idea for some wall art.  I just got a cast iron bull head, I have named him Herman Blu, and its awesome-ness seems to be throwing off the balance of the space.  As I was told today, "You have all this girly stuff and then a masculine bull head?"  So, I thought of a great idea to do a "season" collage for under the masculine bull head.  It would be a picture of a cow and a tree in a field.  There would be a photo of the field in the summer, spring, fall and winter in a long line under the bull head. Very dramatic huh!?

Well, that it is.  I figured out a plan for a Disappering Nine Patch quilt this evening that I think I will start this weekend.

i sew because it relaxes me...
